The massive uptick in cyber attacks is forcing executives to reconsider overall risk mitigation strategies. The challenge: resource limitations still remain. The Leader Who Wasn’t
Sean Hutchinson | RFN Global

Here we are again…blasting forward out of a profoundly disruptive time that overpowered our economies and affected tens of millions. Looking back, how did you lead your company during the fog of the pandemic? How has, or hasn’t, your leadership changed over the past year?

In the heat of the mess, most of us turn to what we know. Our competence, built up over decades of experience, nudge us to fix things – so we do, to the extent we can.  We “step in.” We take control of the situation and assess the damage, seize the opportunity, or both. Interestingly, science says don’t be that leader (and avoid it with intent). In the best—most valuable—companies, the pandemic was just one more disruption. Why? This session will bring data that answer these and other questions about why “tomorrow’s leader” gets better results today.

About Sean Hutchinson:

With over 30 years in business, the most valuable lessons Sean Hutchinson has learned have been from business owners who generously shared their stories of success and struggle. They have allowed him to offer insights and guidance based on first-hand experiences.

Sean has founded more than half a dozen companies, all of them with partners, some more successful than others. Sean is proud to call himself the third-generation heir to his family’s 64-year-old custom millwork manufacturing business. Sean has sat in your chair many times over the years and the fact remains: he loves being an entrepreneur.

As one of the founders of RFN Advisory Group (previously SVA Value Accelerators), Sean’s primary focus is strategy and growth. He helps owners and their leadership teams to imagine what being a ‘company of the future’ looks like for them, and then helps them achieve it. Sean sees his work as transformational, not just transactional and it all comes down to getting you ready for next.

Predicting the Future: How Machine Learning & AI Will Transform the Construction Equipment Distribution Chai
Simon Ferguson | EquipmentWatch

It is early in the working day. The CFO of a large heavy equipment dealer switches his laptop on. He has an urgent message from Jenny, who has compiled a report analyzing the company’s current line of excavators. She is predicting a shift in market demand, with a sweet spot in 9 months’ time where prices will spike. The CFO changes his first meeting of the day and sets about preparing to reconfigure his stock.

What is unusual in this story is that Jenny is not a human: She is an Artificial Intelligence Bot, programmed to analyze market economics across the construction value chain. Jenny can crunch more data in an hour than a human being could do in 5 years.

Artificial Intelligence and predictive analytics are transforming multiple industry sectors, from transportation to hospitality to pharmaceuticals. This session will look at case studies from these sectors, and then examine the opportunities and impact for the equipment distribution chain. How can technology and machine learning be harnessed to drive margin efficiencies, and predict demand and disposition trends? Attend this session and find out!

To Know and To Be Known
Chief Craig Haigh | Hanover Park Fire Department

Principal, branch manager, service manager, or fire chief – all are in the people business. Each has customers, clients, constituents, employees, and friends. But beyond the quality of your product, it really is about people and relationships.

In this session, Chief Haigh will discuss two critical points for organizational success:

  1. Your greatest strength in serving your customers comes through the quality of the people you employ. Learn about the importance of hiring, training, staff development, succession planning, and taking care of team members.
  2. Customers want to know and be known. Yes, customers are buying a product or service, but what keeps them coming back is the relationships they build with the team. Learn how to grow, develop, and foster these relationships to ensure ongoing success.

Whether delivering a product or answering a 911 call, the people you impact and the lives you touch are what really matter. Attend this session and learn how you can employ these principles in your own dealership.
