AED President & CEO Brian P. McGuire Talks Right to Repair, Policy Priorities at White House, USDA

Today, AED’s President & CEO Brian P. McGuire brought the equipment industry’s pro-growth policy message to the White House and the U.S. Department of Agriculture during meetings in Washington, D.C., with senior advisors to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and officials with the National Economic Council.

At the top of the agenda was clearing up misconceptions regarding right to repair, pushing for year-round E15, and completing a surface transportation reauthorization bill by September 30.

“Given an increase in the rhetoric surrounding right to repair, it was critical to push back against misnomers and to discuss the realities of equipment service and repair,” said McGuire. “Today, customers can repair their equipment, parts and tools are available, and dealers will do anything possible to eliminate downtime. Idle equipment is bad business for everyone involved.”

AED also reminded the officials that the Memorandums of Understanding between the American Farm Bureau Federation and agriculture equipment manufacturers represents a private sector solution that is working.

McGuire expressed appreciation to the Trump administration for its strong support for year-round E15 and encouraged prioritizing surface transportation reauthorization to ensure the federal highway program doesn’t lapse.
