AED Hosts Transportation Infrastructure Leaders Ahead of Highway Reauthorization
On March 2, prior to the beginning of CONEXPO in Las Vegas, Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) hosted the bipartisan leadership of the House Transportation & Infrastructure for discussions with AED members about surface transportation reauthorization and other issues important to the industry.
House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-Mo.) and Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-Wash.) also addressed AED’s pre-CONEXPO reception imploring attendees to urge their lawmakers to support the next highway bill to get it signed into law before the current law expires on October 1.
“Thank you to Chairman Graves and Ranking Member Larsen for spending time with AED members and for working in a bipartisan manner to complete the surface transportation reauthorization process as soon as possible,” said AED’s President & CEO Brian P. McGuire. “Renewing the federal highway program is too important for lawmakers not to take bold action. Equipment dealers need the certainty of a long-term, robustly funded bill, and it’s encouraging to hear that the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee is committed to this goal.”
Both Graves and Larsen discussed their desire to consider a bipartisan surface transportation reauthorization bill in committee this spring with hopes to pass it out of the House soon after.
