AED’s McGuire: Keystone Approval Long Overdue
WASHINGTON – Brian P. McGuire, president and CEO of Associated Equipment Distributors, issued the following statement after President Donald J. Trump took executive action to advance the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, clearing the way for final approval in the near future. AED has been a leader in Washington advocating for Keystone approval and other energy policies that will spur economic growth and job creation.
“AED commends President Trump for reviving the Keystone XL pipeline project. It’s inexcusable that the Obama administration denied the cross-border permit for the project that will support a substantial number of jobs and significant economic activity with minimal environmental impact. However, elections have consequences, and we’re pleased that President Trump is pursuing a commonsense energy policy for the United States.”
“The Keystone XL pipeline is critical to jobs, economic growth, and national security, and is indisputably in our national interest and that of Canada, our closest trading partner. The construction equipment industry is ready to assist in this project and other energy infrastructure efforts across the country. Any way you look at – from an economic, environmental, national security or foreign policy standpoint – approving the Keystone XL pipeline is the right decision.”
